Department of Defense Technology Protection

The Department of Defense Technology Protection offers a curriculum designed to respond swiftly to an environment in which the strategic value of defense technology is increasing as advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and unmanned systems converge with national defense. Its goal is to educate professionals who can systematically protect core technologies amid civil–military technology convergence and increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. To this end, the Department produces interdisciplinary professionals with protection capabilities spanning the full life cycle of defense technology, from planning and development through testing and evaluation, production and export.

Centered on technology security, the program comprehensively strengthens capabilities in incident response, implementation of export controls, interpretation of law and institutions, policy design and risk management, and cultivates integrated problem-solving skills through a multidisciplinary framework spanning law, policy studies, defense science and technology, and information security. It also provides practice-oriented education that reflects the characteristics of the industry, supporting the development of expertise that can respond proactively to international technology control regimes and defense cooperation environments.
